What is Food Insecurity?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines food insecurity as having reduced quality and variety of food or as having recurring issues with regular meal access leading to disruptions.

100% of those we serve are classified by the USDA as Very Low Food Security. The choice between food and other necessities - like shelter, heat and medication - is a daily one. An estimated 50% of those we serve are undocumented residents, often fearful of agencies they’re unfamiliar with. 40% do not qualify for SNAP.

Spotlight: The Point After Club

A program of Vinfen, the Point After Club is a community of individuals in recovery from mental illness - in employment, education, social activities and relationships, life skill development, housing, connecting to community resources, health and wellness, arts-based rehabilitation, and advocacy.

Bread & Roses partners with PAC to fight food insecurity faced by its members with the monthly delivery of meals, grocery staples and prepared meal components.

“Bread & Roses has been a wonderful food resource to us at the Point After Club - enabling us to deliver thousands of prepared meals and groceries to our members - helping us to stay connected through difficult times.”

- Jennifer Lilja, PAC Case Manager
